Presenting ourselves

your job isn't you,

your pictures aren't you,

your thoughts aren't you,

your habits aren't you,

your mental struggles aren't you,

your past trauma aren't you

All of them constitute varying portions of you as a person and how much they occupy in your identity is completely up to you.

I've been telling myself that what people see of me aren't fully representing me, so I’ve been much less worried about what people think of me.

When we consider a behavior super telling of someone's character, we cast judgement. Although it could be a portion of that individual, it never is the full picture, it's probably not even a significant portion.

While we are worried about how we are presenting ourselves in front of the world, we are using the same lens to see the world too. Things you are judging others with are exactly what you’re insecure about, it has nothing to do with that person you’re judging.

So what if we let go of that lens, maybe we are finally able to live and let live. 💙
